My first Friday in Lisboa!

Hola!

This is the first time I allow myself to wake up without an alarm clock since 12 Aug? Filed the insurance claim, did laundry (handwash) and just catching up on Iris as there are no tutorials for the first week :D && of course I am still realllllly tired. Weiyi and Po Xian have been asking me for nights out but I am all like no... Haha. I know I should totally have nights out and just go socialise with people but it's tiring to talk to people who don't really understand English well and stuff. I think I need another week to recover. Looking forward to going to the beach during weekends! && I am working on Prague post right now.

My good food hunt kinda failed cos Tripadvisor lead me to the wrong place and I settled for this crowded eatery nearby. It's in a business park/ office area so I decided to just follow the crowd. There were no English menu and the only thing I recognise in the menu was Bife, which is beef. Haha. Everyone were eating prawns and I should have followed them. But this wasn't too bad too. The handmade chips and sauce are really nice (the steak is under the sunny side up)! This meal cost 6.60 euros.

Went to roam around the Baixa-Chiado area. In case you are wondering why am I always going there, it's the best shopping area in Lisbon and the famous tourists attractions are all nearby. There are soooooo many streets there so I always try to explore different streets each time I go there. But I decided to leave Palace of San Jorge and some other attractions that require climbing even more slopes to next time with my friends!

Cute little tram going down the slope! I realised that the cute trams are actually mainly for tourist and not exactly a public transport. It costs like 3.60 euros?

A little sneak peek of the slopes I have to walk everyday (upper half of the picture)...

In Baixa, it's also really easy to walk to the sea/ port area. Just walk to the end of the street and you will definitely end up somewhere near the sea. Hahahaha.

Hope to go over to the other side some day. I think there's a light house and a famous statue there.

Finally viewing the beautiful coloured cluttered buildings with my bare eyes and not on Google images.

As usual, Europeans chillaxing with their tanks rolled up as crop under the hot sun. It's 30 to 32 degrees at the time the photo was taken and it's soooo uncomfortable even with shades. I can't just lie there and get toasted like them.

Went to the Portuguesa cafe to avoid the sun and have some cakes and coffee. The cake looks so much like the Paris Baguette crepe cake but it doesn't taste like that. It's a harder version, layered with biscuit. Not sure exactly what it is but it's known as Fatia Bolos Grandes in Portuguese.

Wanted to read a book but it's simply too hot even indoors and so I went to out to explore other streets and shop.
Finally found my contact lens solution! But it costs 12.50 euros for a bottle. In Singapore, it costs like S$23 to S$27 for 3 bundled bottles. Sighs. But I really need those as I am running out of the extra travel packs I brought. && of course I went to stock up more summer clothes. I get a headache looking at all the long sleeves I brought cos it's freaking hot here, hitting a 34 degrees yesterday! I can't stand wearing maxi or midis even! It's really far tooooo warm. I am glad to finally find a pair of shorts from Pull & Bear that fits (I don't know why I am wearing UK 4 over here and it's hard to find bottoms that comes in UK 4). Next, I head to El Corte to get sunblock. The Nivea sunblock I bought here gave me rashes and the airport security in Madrid threw away my Clinque SPF 50 >:( But anyway, the Clinque staff in Lisbon say the max they have is SPF 40-.- They don't carry anything more than that here which makes me so mad! SPF 50 don't even exactly work for me in Madrid. In Singapore I sometimes use up to SPF 130. GRH. Why they like to tan so much? Then I went to Clarins which carries max SPF 20 for adults BUT I found the SPF 50 for infants. So I bought that. Hahahaha. Why is it so difficult to just get a proper sunblock? Then I went to the Zara opposite El Corte as it is much bigger than the one in Chiado and found a S size skirt that isn't loose on me! So... I just have to get it. By the time I got everything it was already 7pm so I went to buy some sushi takeaway from El Corte Supermarket. I wish I can just dabao some fish soup or something like in Singapore but you don't see much offering takeaway service unless it's some sort of fastfood.

Finally some Japanese food in the comfort of my own room :)
