Ronda Road Trip - 30 Sep 13

I took so many beautiful photos during this road trip that I don't even know how to begin this post. I have tried to delete as many photos as possible from this post so I won't bore you out with too many of the scenes I have seen during the drive :) No stops were made to take any of the pictures and I am so thankful for the really superb shutter speed. It was forecasted to be a rainy day but we were blessed otherwise. Goats, sheeps, windmills, historical city, pastel coloured sky,...

None of the photos posted here are edited.

We planned to head to Ronda the night before and the train timings were all really off so we decided to rent a car. Spontaneous road trip. Alamo, serviced by Europcar, provided the best rates but... the next morning when we got to the collection point, Europcar claimed to not have received our booking. It was too early and the Alamo hotline were not working? IS FAIL. After we failed to contact Alamo, we decided to rent a car on the spot with Europcar instead. Impromptu and expensive decision but after the road trip, I'll say it's worth every cent of it.

My driver for the day. There were only 2 of us so I have to help him navigate (without a rented GPS). Initially Weiyi ask me to navigate with his Citymaps-to-go which was kind of a complete failure. And there, we had our first near heart attack experience just when we were driving out to the main road... Weiyi slammed our side mirror to another car's side mirror. It was damn scary! It was his first time driving on the left and it's a manual car. I was really super scared.

When we successfully drove out of Granada...

And... somehow we just accidentally drove into the stone pit for emergency brake. That was super duper scary since we were driving quite fast and we misread the road signs and ram all the way into the stony part of the road. I was like totally stunned and thought the car is gonna be all damaged. Haha. Drama much. So we decided to stop in this little town on the way to check the car and have lunch. Spotted little goats crossing the road as we turn into the small town...

We had lunch at a drive-thru Mcdonalds that was somehow more expensive than mainland Spain's Mcdonalds. Was still in a state of shock by then and hence no photos. Thank god the car is perfectly fine. Haha.

Back on the roads! Spot the tiny windmills in the background!

And more windmills! I swear after this road trip I became super drawn to windmills.

Blessed with bluer sky:')

The sun was shining directly at the castle as though it's glowing<3

And finally I got to see my sheeps ^^V

Finally reached Ronda after an arduous drive (and it started drizzling) :)

Guess what I spotted on the grills of the viewpoint?;) Any attractions with metal grills are potential love-lock something. It's really lame.

Puerte Nuevo along the gorge of Ronda

I think you have to walk 300 steps to get to the bottom and from the reviews online, it's essentially just sewage, so we didn't go down.

It's always a funny sight to see pigeons gripping onto the sides of the rock.

For one moment I thought this guy is real cos there was this old lady staring out of the window at this guy. Haha.

Alminar de San Sebastian

Iglesia de Santa Maria - church converted from a mosque

Oddly unsymmetrical trees.

Acorn tree!

We decided to go into Iglesia de Santa Maria to check out how much of the islamic influence remains!

View of the City Hall from the church.

Spot the ponies in this photo!

Crazy shooting when the blue sky returns!

PONIES!

I didn't want to climb up because there were no railings? But we heard the funniest and most himbotic thing while being up here and taking pictures of ponies. A China man was also at this view point and he walked all the way to the end of the wall said this, “楼梯去了哪?楼梯怎么不见了?!” The colour of the stairs is the same as the wall but this is so stupid! Why will the staircase disappear?

The same scenery complement by beautiful sky deserves another shot.

Time for a visit to one of the oldest bull ring in Spain!

The numbers of the seats are so cute.

It will be nice if there are real bulls kept here. Haha. There are two museums at level one of the ring.

After tea break at a tapas place (lousy one), it's time to head back!

The colours of the sky kept changing along the way as the sun was setting.

This is too angelic. Can't get it off my mind and it's all natural and real. No edits were made.

Pretty windmills set with different coloured skies.

Totally couldn't contain my excitement as we drove nearer and nearer to the windmills. Sorry for the spam!

First time being so close to one.

This is like the best road trip ever. Can't believed how blessed we were with the good weather during the drive. Never had so much drama in a day of my life but that's probably how this trip is so memorable!

Till next time! :D
