Budapest Day 2 - 15 Aug 2013

We only have 2 days in Budapest so as a promise to my dear boyfriend, that I will send him a postcard everywhere I go, I wrote postcard on the first night and so that I can have sufficient time to post it the next day.

I can't get enough of snapping the ang moh construction workers. LOL.

Who's that minion sneaking out there?

On our way to the Great Market Hall, we saw the Budapest Statue of Liberty that's up on the Gellert Hill. We didn't make our way up there though.

Budapest Liberty bridge, which was Helga's favourite bridge.

Finally after allllll the walking, we reached the Great Market Hall!

Not sure what is that but find the colour really attractive!

Super huge watermelon!

Only in Europe, the wet markets aren't wet, smelly and dirty!

For some reason, they seem to like Thailand a lot. There were Thai massage places, Thai food and even a Thai fair in this market which I didn't take a photo of.

Yummy hungarian food!

As recommended by the boyfriend, we tried their traditional dessert - Langos!

It was like a sweet han chee beng. Hahahah. Too sweet for our liking though.

Trying to take a candid shot fail

Just look at that construction uncle's uniform. It's damn cute!

Last day in Budapest so we have to get more hungarian beer! Only in Europe, we can drink in the morning without getting judged. Hahahaha.

After getting our beer and heading back to our airbnb to check out, Helga offered to let our keep our luggages in one of her other apartment so we don't have to drag it everywhere till it's time to take our overnight bus to Prague.

We had the BEST pistachio ice cream ever in Fragola, a homemade icecream shop!

The pistachio taste is soooo strong and it's the first salty ice cream we have ever eaten in our lives. This experience spark off our pistachio ice cream hunt and sadly, we couldn't find another pistachio ice cream that can match up to this in other places that we have toured.

Went to this Vak restaurant for lunch as recommended by Helga and sadly, it's really overpriced and not fantastic.

This cup of ice tea ended up to be really expensive as they only include price by 0.1 litre of the tea and they didn't tell us that they serve in 0.3l and we have to do our math.

Visited the famous Heroes' Square!

Asked an old couple to help us take a jump shot and the head of the pillar weren't even there -.-

We went to have a little walk in the park behind the square...

A group of people painting the fake castle...

It's nice to see people relaxing in a park.

Had dinner at Trici Papa (recommended by Tripadvisor) as we couldn't find Menza that was recommended by the boyfriend. Trici Papa serves really decent and delicious hungarian food even though the shop looks old and the staff aren't very friendly.

I ordered this chicken and rice dish. The rice is oddly salty but really tasty and satisfying as I was really craving for rice.

Really nice fried mushrooms.

Jiayi's vermicelli soup!

After this we went to look for a cafe to pass time, use the wifi and wash up in their toilet (like some hobo) before heading to the bus station to take an overnight bus to Prague.

Till next time!
