Malaga - Gibraltar - 2nd Oct 2013

I caught the first sunrise of my life in Malaga :')

We decided to catch sunrise on the 2nd day of Malaga before heading for our day trip to Gibraltar. I thought we were going to miss the sunrise since I locked Weiyi in the room when I went to bathe. We were only allocated 1 set of keys to the room of 6 and the door kept slamming when you didn't use the keys to lock it... and so... yups. We rushed to La Magueta beach as fast as we can. The sky was all bright when we got there :(

BUT the rays were just appearing....

We didn't miss it!

:') I trimmed hundred over photos of the sunrise to just the few above. Haha. It's so beautiful. Totally didn't expect to catch a sunrise during my exchange:)

Editted to be used as my blog title :)

Breakfast before day trip!

Look what I found in Gibraltar! Gibraltar is a British Colony even though it's in Spain. Haha. only 30,000 people leave in this small city and they speak English and use pounds :D

Surprised to see such a beautiful airport here! The only sad thing is that we didn't had a stamp on our passport :(

Look at how few flights there are...

And woohoo! We walk across a live runway. Haha. So exciting.

The famous rock of Gibraltar...

It used to be right hand drive in Gibraltar but they recently changed it to left hand drive cos it's too much of a hassle for them to drive out of Gibraltar since the rest of Spain is left hand drive.

We were very very excited to see English signs around.

We had too little time in Gibraltar so the fastest way for us to cover the main attractions on the rock was to join the minivan tour which you can book in the main square for 12 pounds each.

Sahara desert on the left!

Pillars of Hercules. The Northern Pillar is actually the Rock of Gibraltar!

There are so so SOOOOO many monkeys on the Rock of Gibraltar. You can totally imagine how much I was squealing out of fear whenever I had to get out of the van. I was so afraid that they will pull my hair or what. So scary! They are all tagged and in the past the policemen were ordered to feed them. All the tourists from England were so excited. Being an Asian, I am totally not fond of them. Hahaha.

This one is the largest out of all I have seen there.

Little monkey eating Magnum. HAHA.

Lower St. Micheal's Cave tour. This is where the Miss Gibraltar Beauty Pageant is held.

Haha. See how daring are the apes.

There was a badass monkey with a scar on his lips nearby. Was totally not wanting to take a picture here. Haha. Badass monkeys everywhere.

Look at the runway!

Look at the huge cemetery! They are partitioned according to their religions.

Gibraltar fortress tour. In the past the Rock of Gibraltar was used as a fortress. They actually shoot canons from the tunnels in the rock.

The dust speck is toooo irritating omg.

Took a bus to Europa Point straight after we got down from the rock. Totally rushing for time.

Look at how cooperative the clouds are when we are shooting the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque :)

Sahara desert!

Reminds you of the Visa Paywave commercial no?

Then we had a little drama when we were clearing the customs to get back to La Linear to take the last bus back to Malaga. The customs clearance queue was so crazy and we had like less than 30 mins before our bus leaves for Malaga. That's something to take note! While googling about Gibraltar now and found so many forums complaining about the strict customs clearance -.- We thought we were going to stay one night in Gibraltar already! Was pretty glad that the clearance gained speed and we were back to Malaga on time. Phew.

Back to Lechuga for dinner!

We ordered wraps and the same mini hamburger tapas for the night. I won't recommend the wraps though! And the chef wasn't the same as the day before.
