Reached Warsaw at about 6am and make our way to Oki Doki Hostel to drop our luggages and make our way to the old town for the free walking tour! I wanted to go to the Uprising museum and Gestapo Headquarters museum but they were closed on the day we were there :( Weiqi and Jiayi are never interested in museums and I was all ready to explore those myself but... oh well...
Walked across a beautiful park...
A school excursion with the teachers dressed up in costumes.
Was totally excited to see glass panels. We see that all around Singapore but not so in Europe. We were like living under the rock for a week and finally...
Warsaw University! Oh.. And I just realised that some Polish in my apartment must be really smart as they did their undergraduate studies in Warsaw University. You have to be really smart to get it.
Holy Cross Church
Visitationist Church
The Royal Castle Square
Statue of Zygmunt
The whole of Warsaw was rebuilt after the war. Everything was destroyed so in my opinion, there was nothing much worth seeing in Warsaw, but do go for the walking tour to learn about its history:)
It started drizzling when the walk started
It's said that if you walk 3 rounds around this bell and make a wish, your wish will come true.
The Black Madonna, Poland's holiest and most important relic.
A famous chemist used to live in this building
Sparrows on the wall
Little Insurgent Monument built to commemorate children served as messengers and frontline troops during the uprising.
Looking back, I realised I didn't take a photo of the most important monument in Warsaw which are the mermaids holding a sword! There are statues of mermaids holding on to a sword everywhere in Warsaw as legends say that the mermaid protect Warsaw.
Went into a cute cafe recommended by Tripadvisor for some Polish noodles!
Polish bacon and egg soup!
Polish noodles that are all too floury for our liking. It's just too much. Haha. We didn't even finish half of it.
Same goes for this.
After that, we went back to the hostel and rest. I was having a tummy upset cos of the water in Krakow so I just stayed in the hostel the whole night before the pasta activity. Somehow the water tasted funny then my stomach begin to cramp from Warsaw onwards. Warsaw is a very beautiful place to live in. Efficient transport system, minimal slopes, cleaner than most of the places we have been and people are really nice. But there were nothing worth seeing. I am glad that we have our stopover there. Our stay in Oki Doki Hostel is very awesome too. People are so nice and helpful :)
