The Coastal Settlement

We decided to drop by The Coastal Settlement on our way to Rabbit Headquarters more than a month ago! Everyone was raving so much about this place but it's too out of way for us if we are not heading to Pasir Ris Farmway. But after our first experience, we love it and went back again.

Frustrations

The past week was... full of stress and frustration in booking the trip and settling the admin stuff. I am the type of person who will try to expect the worst so as to avoid disappointment. I am expecting myself to not be able to join JY and WQ for the first week of the trip but I can't exactly not book any part of that trip as rooms and seats are running out due to the summer crowd. But if it is indeed true that I can only join them the 2nd week, I have to drag my large luggage along (the reason why I am flying Paris first, is to drop my luggage at JY's place). SO so so many concerns. All the boyfriend kept saying is that I can definitely learn something from this visa application process if all else failed. BUT all along it's out of my control. I haven't done anything wrong so what can I learn from it? It's nothing but a whole lot of admin nightmare. To be honest, I wasn't too excited like a normal smudent will when I got the offer. There were so much to think about and so much inefficiency to deal with for anything involving countries outside of Singapore. Despite trying to be more forgiving on their inefficiencies, I just can't. It's far worst than expected. I can't imagine living there really. Imagine dealing with even more of these. So far I am only thankful for a helpful landlord and having a roof over my head in Lisbon at a good location. So far 2 Polish girls rented the same flat. Hope that they will be nice too :)

Random cafe hop with the BFFs (minus one) to Group Therapy. I wish the seats are more comfortable!

Xiting has really become a changed person after her Europe grad trip. She suggested the cafe hop and navigated us there. *claps* Hahahahahahaha.

Had Taste Paradise on Sat to celebrate bf's bro and godma's birthday!

Taste Paradise had the nicest Cha Siew Sow and custard buns I have ever tried during all my dim sum hops. Haha. However, it also has the most tasteless siew mai I have ever eaten in my life (I even had to dip them in chilli before I eat. I usually don't use any sauces). Overall, it's definitely worth going back again! :)

After our dim sum lunch and window shopping, we left for Dulcet & Studio at Liang Court.

Pon Neuf (Jap x French pastry fusion)

The cafe serves really delicious looking Japanese pastries and western-jap fusion main dishes. We were too full from dim sum to have the main course but they look really delicious! Will go back next time for the main course:)

We went to try Thirsty at Liang Court too!

They serve a large variety of beer. I probably have never seen any of all that is sold there before. The one I had (the green bottle) is really nice! I don't mind beers but I can't burp. So I always feel a little uncomfortable after having a beer. Haha. Weirdo I know. Hope to try different types of beer on exchange :)

The boy has started work so this week is pretty much really boring for me. Haha. I expected a lil more on weekends but I don't know what we can do with the crazy crowd everywhere. I want to go Adventure Cove before I fly~~

Anyway, I went to explore the Jurong West Library yesterday. To be honest, I never knew that existed. If I need to borrow some books when I am in the West, I'll always head to the National Library or the Chua Chu Kang Station from here. LOL. The Jurong West Library is within walking distance from the boyfriend's place and it has such a big collection of travel guides and books of my favourite authors. Surprise surprise. Haha. I just spend my afternoon flipping through all the travel guides and taking down the attractions that I think we should visit for our 2 weeks trip.

Hi guys! Sorry for the short hiatus. Here's a quick update of the small lil random things I did and the food places I went to over the past 2 weeks.

As many have known, some stuff happened and the boy came back one week earlier than expected. The past 2 weeks have been much of a administrative nightmare for me in terms of visa application and job application among many others. We didn't do anything much for the remaining days we had last week due to the haze but I am glad for the time spent before he starts work tomorrow! :)

Favourite Alexandra Market Bak Ku Teh/ Fish herbal soup!

Finally used the Tonkichi vouchers that Huihui and I bought during one of our boring Strat class. Hehe.

To be honest up till the day we met to go down to Tonkichi, I have always thought that the voucher is for Ma Maison Tonkatsu. HAHAHAHA. But this is not bad too. Except that I wish the tonkatsu is warmer.

Tonkichi day is the day that the haze got really bad and I left house without even a surgical mask on. The boyfriend is nice enough to bring me a N95 and wait for me at the MRT station on the way back <3

Surprise cafe hop idea by the boyfriend to We're The Furballs (which wasn't much of a surprise the next day when I found out that his close friend and him were pooling 'dating ideas' for their girlfriends -.- not his idea) !
Duchess loves to bite everything on him. From buttons on his shirt to...

Shoelaces. Hahahahaa. Buibui the pug looks totally unfazed.

Bui Bui sitting like a boss.

Nevertheless, I love the concept of WTF cafe! It's better than us fiddling with our smartphones/ ebook reader during lazy cafe hop. It's quite an experience to interact with the dogs since most my relatives and friends don't own one. I want a dog in future when I have a place to call me own ;)

Went to have a late dinner at the nearby famous Katong laksa place. That was the first time I ate laksa outside of home.

Thursday mad rush to authenticate visa documents:
Here is a photo of the lazy boy taking the train. We were heading to town to run some errands that day so taking public transport makes more economical sense (SMU --> MFA --> Embassy of Portugal Singapore --> SMU).

Lunch at Maki San while waiting for the DHL to reach admin building!

I super love Maki San after going there with Gen previously. The boyfriend haven't tried this before so tada... here we go. I thought guys won't usually like this cos it's a tad too light. But he think it's pretty good. Yay. Hope to go back at least once more before leaving for exchange :)

Walked to Bugis for Cocoichibanya after settling the visa stuff since he haven't tried this too.
Second time having this and I feel that the curry is more spicy as compared to the previous time even though it's the same Level 1 I ordered. It's still delicious of course. They were having some promotion that day for set meals ($12.90 per set).

Yesterday was one of our lazy dates to town. Usually the boyfriend hate to go town on weekends due to the crowd but yesterday was kind of an exception.

Our first neoprint together!
I was pretty surprised to find a neoprint shop at *SCAPE and I am like... we have to take one!!! Haha. Taking neoprint is like the mandatory dating-things-to-do during our sec sch time. I wonder if the sec school kids still do this now. All the neoprint machines seem to have the eye enlarging effect and the boyfriend was so annoyed and he kept trying to find a function to undo that. The effect is still there but not as bad as the original one. Hahahhaa.

Dinner at Shokudo!

The unagi pizza is really super yummy! It's super thin but it won't crack into tiny pieces like the Skinny pizza's (it's super annoying and messy!). Love it! The burger prices are pretty reasonable too but we were leaving some stomach space for desserts.

That's all for the updates of the tiny things I do for the 2 weeks^^

Hi all! It's summer time! :D

Hi all! We are finally done with finals. Past few days was just spent catching up with friends, family and visiting grandmothers in the hospital (My grandma still can't be discharged in the end). Just came back from from the boyfriend's dad's birthday dinner. Buffet at the Traders Hotel. The spread is great and I am so glad for the big turn up. Haha. I didn't feel lonely even though I am like the only one without a partner at the young people side. Hahahaha.

Had a mini after exams celebration with Huihui after our paper on Friday at Ootoya. It's really good and all the dishes are quite homely Japanese food. I love the rice especially! Girls will love it. Huihui's recommendation will never go wrong ;)
We just spent our afternoon walking aimlessly around and chitchat about everything and anything as usual. Hehe. Spent a few hours with my grandmother before meeting the boyfriend's mum to visit his grandmother at NUH.

Finally had a cafe girly date with Gen on Saturday morning! I haven't explored any new cafes after the boyfriend left.
We went Maison Ikkuko. I went there once with the boyfriend after one of our shoots and I love the coffee. It was our first time having brunch there and we shared a salmon with English muffins thingy. It's really nice but the Hollandaise sauce tasted a lil like curry??? Haha. Gen drove that day so it was quite a relief that we didn't had to be under the sun much. Added another few cafes on my to-visit list. It's so nice to have a car to go anywhere you want. MRT is soooo super disgustingly crowded nowadays :(

Boyfriend was quite funny to ask for pictures of my ootds that day over Whatsapp cos he say he don't know what am I wearing anymore. Haha. But there's no one taking my ootds without him around and I didn't had chance to wear anything nice since my exams only ended on Friday. It has only been 3 days since the end and I have been busy going out and doing handicrafts whenever I am home (crocheting, knitting and making accessories and stuff). Ah. Life's good.

Week in a glance!

Hi all:D

A little quick update!

This week has been a really intensive and tiring week (you can see how pale and tired I look in the pictures) and it is also the last week with the boyfriend before he leaves for his 45-day grad trip. Well... we didn't really get to spend more time than usual with each other due to his exams revision and my crazy project mad rush. It's okay... it's okay. I mean it's not the first time that he is going away... erm.. :(

An afternoon at Symmetry

Woohooo. Finally get to go out with the ever busy boyfriend and tried Symmetry for the first time :)

It's quite a distance away from Bugis MRT station but it's rather easy to walk there from the station. Just that the scorching hot sun is making us really frustrated>:( I was quite surprised to see that the cafe is full! I knew about this cafe cos of the cute latte art that my friend posted on Instagram when they went there..We didn't get cute latte art cos the boyfriend ordered the ice latte and I ordered Long Black. Only remembered that we meant to go there for the latte art now. What a joke. The blazing hot sun was really getting onto our nerves.

Pesto! The menu is pretty limited and I don't quite get what they were writing. Haha. But this dish turns out to be really great but I hope they add more of the pasta though. Usually pasta with pesto sauce are far too creamy. This is quite an exception. They have more of the basil than cream *Thumbs up*

Green Tea Sandwich for dessert. We wanted to order the Mango Sandwich but they ran out of the ingredients. It's actually green tea mousse with shortbread. It's sooo yummy. Not overly sweet and it's rather refreshing :)

We don't have much expectations on the food at brunch/ coffee places. I mean.. people usually go there for coffee and food is secondary. BUT... the dishes here really exceed our expectation:) Just wish that the serving can be a tad bigger. Ask if we will come back here again? Probably not. For the same price, we'll go to Au Chocolat instead. Hehs.

My recess week is coming to an end. As usual, I get really depressed during recess week as the boyfriend didn't plan a special day of fun for me. It's extremely upsetting for me especially when I have zero mid terms after this recess week and it's the last week of fun before the crazy mugging plus mad rush to meet project deadlines from Week 9 onwards. To me it's like 'wow the whole world seems to be going out to have fun with their other half or friends except me':( And it definitely seems like being single is more fun since my days were always filled with activities, may it be studying together or to go out or to club and whatever. Now I am just miserable being alone most of the time. Hmms. I am really glad to have Huihui to accompany me to try out new food places or to go to our favourite Amoy for lunch. Shall update the entire week with more food pictures tomorrow ;)

Birthday post!

I wanted to cut my hair like this so that it is easier to style but the boyfriend say it doesn't suit me:( My hair is so boring now.

*WAVESWAVESWAVES* The frantic midterms and project submission is over for this half a semester and there's no midterms after recess week so I am sooooo elated. After hearing how SMA prof actually encourage us to go away during the long weekend before cramming to catch up on our books, I really wish to go for a short weekend trip or staycation. Sighs.

This post is gonna be really long and so...

Group Therapy Cafe

Finally we visited the Group Therapy Cafe!

It is situated at 49 Duxton Road, just above an Italian restaurant. As we climbed up the stairs, we are greeted with this!

Just look at the handle to the door! Haha! The scoop used to scoop coffee beans!

We were so shocked when we open the door! It was so crowded. The whole of Duxton Road was so quiet and the cafes nearby are pretty much empty but here is so different! We were placed on a waiting list and had to wait about more than half an hour to get a seat:/

We had to share the table with another 2 girls. The cafe gives off a very homely feel...

There were paintings on sale too.

We ordered 2 of their specialty drinks:

Toasted Hazelnut Latte

Caramel Cappucino. It pretty much tasted like Starbucks' Caramel Latte

The DJ boyfriend who constantly hunts for new tracks but never really use some time to do any mix ever since he came back??? TSK.

I don't know why there's a hole in his hair???

Group Therapy. HEHE.

Online has been raving about how good Group Therapy's poached eggs are but I wasn't too much of a fan.

Boyfriend ordered the Baked Chili Crab Pie.

&& I ordered the Shepherd's Pie.

Just look at the chill crab! Yums.

The Shepherd's Pie is nice but too much potato:( The boyfriend had to finished it for me in the end. overall the food and ambience is great but they really need to reorganised their seating arrangement? Some people are not too fond of sharing table/space, especially when they are looking to chill in Indie Cafes....

Western food served in traditional chinese plates.

Okay, till then!
