Hi guys! Sorry for the short hiatus. Here's a quick update of the small lil random things I did and the food places I went to over the past 2 weeks.

As many have known, some stuff happened and the boy came back one week earlier than expected. The past 2 weeks have been much of a administrative nightmare for me in terms of visa application and job application among many others. We didn't do anything much for the remaining days we had last week due to the haze but I am glad for the time spent before he starts work tomorrow! :)

Favourite Alexandra Market Bak Ku Teh/ Fish herbal soup!

Finally used the Tonkichi vouchers that Huihui and I bought during one of our boring Strat class. Hehe.

To be honest up till the day we met to go down to Tonkichi, I have always thought that the voucher is for Ma Maison Tonkatsu. HAHAHAHA. But this is not bad too. Except that I wish the tonkatsu is warmer.

Tonkichi day is the day that the haze got really bad and I left house without even a surgical mask on. The boyfriend is nice enough to bring me a N95 and wait for me at the MRT station on the way back <3

Surprise cafe hop idea by the boyfriend to We're The Furballs (which wasn't much of a surprise the next day when I found out that his close friend and him were pooling 'dating ideas' for their girlfriends -.- not his idea) !
Duchess loves to bite everything on him. From buttons on his shirt to...

Shoelaces. Hahahahaa. Buibui the pug looks totally unfazed.

Bui Bui sitting like a boss.

Nevertheless, I love the concept of WTF cafe! It's better than us fiddling with our smartphones/ ebook reader during lazy cafe hop. It's quite an experience to interact with the dogs since most my relatives and friends don't own one. I want a dog in future when I have a place to call me own ;)

Went to have a late dinner at the nearby famous Katong laksa place. That was the first time I ate laksa outside of home.

Thursday mad rush to authenticate visa documents:
Here is a photo of the lazy boy taking the train. We were heading to town to run some errands that day so taking public transport makes more economical sense (SMU --> MFA --> Embassy of Portugal Singapore --> SMU).

Lunch at Maki San while waiting for the DHL to reach admin building!

I super love Maki San after going there with Gen previously. The boyfriend haven't tried this before so tada... here we go. I thought guys won't usually like this cos it's a tad too light. But he think it's pretty good. Yay. Hope to go back at least once more before leaving for exchange :)

Walked to Bugis for Cocoichibanya after settling the visa stuff since he haven't tried this too.
Second time having this and I feel that the curry is more spicy as compared to the previous time even though it's the same Level 1 I ordered. It's still delicious of course. They were having some promotion that day for set meals ($12.90 per set).

Yesterday was one of our lazy dates to town. Usually the boyfriend hate to go town on weekends due to the crowd but yesterday was kind of an exception.

Our first neoprint together!
I was pretty surprised to find a neoprint shop at *SCAPE and I am like... we have to take one!!! Haha. Taking neoprint is like the mandatory dating-things-to-do during our sec sch time. I wonder if the sec school kids still do this now. All the neoprint machines seem to have the eye enlarging effect and the boyfriend was so annoyed and he kept trying to find a function to undo that. The effect is still there but not as bad as the original one. Hahahhaa.

Dinner at Shokudo!

The unagi pizza is really super yummy! It's super thin but it won't crack into tiny pieces like the Skinny pizza's (it's super annoying and messy!). Love it! The burger prices are pretty reasonable too but we were leaving some stomach space for desserts.

That's all for the updates of the tiny things I do for the 2 weeks^^

Last day of being a Year 3!

Been wearing a lot of midis and maxi lately because I am too busy to bother about my legs when I am sick and rushing my projects and reports. I love this current one that I am wearing today! It's so flowy and soft! I think I have been losing some weight because of the bad flu and the Lovebonito bralet size S is so loose on me. I am so torn between S and M for bottoms too cos I have always been a M and lately most of my skirts are too loose for me. Hmm. But hopefully this flu can go away soon so I don't have to disrupt any more presentations with my cough... or worst still... during exams :'(

Had a good lunch with Huihui at Sushi Tei today before the start of hell week for us. We only have 1 week to study for 4 papers which will happen all in one week:( That's all I can eat for now. I cough so badly that I cough out traces of blood for the first time in my life. Huihui say my eyebags are bigger than my eyes now :O Hope to get well soon!!! Now I am just back home, resting before I begin with AFA practices. Had a really long chat with Huihui regarding our wanderlust, on exchange and for grad trip. I really can't wait to travel even though I really hate winter! Been looking at beach holidays destinations lately but I know that's not going to happen anytime soon. Hmm. Just hope to get my visa soon so I can book my tickets and officially start booking stuff for my UK trip.

I really hate LDR, it's worst when he can't contact me regularly. We can't talk on Facetime all the time. Everyday I will be looking forward to his text messages and feel really sad when I couldn't catch him before he leaves his wi-fi spot. It's so much worst than when he was away for exchange. I know it will be EVEN worst when it's my turn to go exchange and he will be starting work since the time difference is about 6-7 hours and most likely he will work overtime and he probably can't wake up early in the morning to talk to me. More than a month to his return. And when he comes back, it will be less than 2 months before I fly.

Wore something different yesterday. I have been trying to change my wardrobe as you can see. The boyfriend was so funny to make a comment on my dungaree. For a moment I thought he didn't like it. Anyway, I really love this!

Anyway, I am done with all the formal presentations of the semester as of now. Strat prof decided to let us off early so I am already back home, all changed and waiting for my lunch before I rush AFA revision. Boyfriend is away once again. One month after he comes back, it will be my turn. To be honest, it kinda sucks to have no one to discuss about the whole exchange process since I am the only one going to Nova. I am currently hounding the embassy to give me a list of the required documents I have to get ready for my visa application. I really hope to get it done soon so I can book my trip with Jiayi and Weiqi. I guess I got too used to Singapore's efficiency, it's really frustrating to get no replies when I email people from other countries for this kind of things:(

No matter how many times the boyfriend leaves for a long trip, I still feel kind of sad. It's frustrating to not be able to contact him that easily, to not have someone to talk to like the old times and blah blah blah... The list goes on and on. But I won't be like him for sure. Even if I am still using my Singapore phone line, I will spam my mum, sis and friends SMSes when I am overseas. Sometimes even call? I think being contactable is important... at least for me? Data charges is horrendous and of course I won't go to that. I am pretty sure that Europe has more Wi-fi hotspots than here and I will still use my Singapore line in the first 2 weeks when I am there and try to get a SIM card asap. Of course I am not demanding that the boyfriend does the same. It's just frustrating sometimes but I try not to think about it. Ah... Study study study.

I want to be overseas now :(

Product Review: Flaunt.cc Exclusives

Hello everyone!

Decided to do product reviews once in a while on my blog even though most of the time I did it on bestofshopping's forum.

I love online shopping and it's sad that recently all the blogshops seem to be selling the same thing. Or that many get their stocks from Taobao? It's quite irritating to see the stuff you bought from blogshop is the same as those you found on Taobao but more expensive? So I still prefer to buy from Lovebonito, Amber Avenue and ASOS. But anyway, Flaunt.cc seems to be shifting to manufacturing their own designs lately...

I have been looking for a perfect polka dot dress and tada... I found this. Polka dot dresses is like a must have spring essential and this particular design is especially so with its robe pipings around the bust area, which gives off the sailor vibe. The polka dots on the dress have a velvety texture too. Super cute. The pictures on Flaunt.cc didn't do justice to this piece. It's so much prettier than expected. It is made of very flowy chiffon and it's fully lined. I have nothing to complain about this, except that I'll prefer it to come with anti-slips at the neckline :)

Close up:

Recently I have been so obsessed with Maxis (All still in their individual packaging as usual:P) but they  often look too formal on me:( However, I decided to try my luck on this piece and I am quite satisfied with this. The leather and aztec feature of this maxi dress 'harden' the look, which is exactly what I have been looking for. I have been lusting after a few maxi dresses from Stadivarius and Bershka but I doubt I will wear them much so I rather save the money for better buys. The only problem with this dress again, will be the lack of anti slips. Other than that, it's a really worthy buy!

Close up.

Hope this review helps! Do click on the link to get them before the stocks run out :)

P.S.: Boyfriend's not around, and hence no outdoor ootds. Sighs.

First presentation down for the week!

Last minute decision to wear this nude coloured dress for presentation this morning. I love the flattering cutting of this dress so much! && there there is my new bag from C&K(thanks to my aunt) and the Fossil watch that my BFFs bought me for my birthday:) 2 more presentations to go this week.

It's gonna be office dresses all week.

Week in a glance!

Hi all:D

A little quick update!

This week has been a really intensive and tiring week (you can see how pale and tired I look in the pictures) and it is also the last week with the boyfriend before he leaves for his 45-day grad trip. Well... we didn't really get to spend more time than usual with each other due to his exams revision and my crazy project mad rush. It's okay... it's okay. I mean it's not the first time that he is going away... erm.. :(

To brighten up my oh-so-depress Saturday

Not my usual style but I thought it's a nice pair of shorts to own and mix-and-match with. The boyfriend is flying off tomorrow for his 1.5 months grad trip and I have 2 back-to-back meetings on a Saturday.

Something cheery for the cray cray day ahead

Sweet ensemble for the tedious day ahead. Love the candy prints on my swirly skater skirt :)

Brendan & Tiffany's beautiful wedding

(Photo taken from their Facebook group)

I attended B&T's wedding last Saturday and boy... it was so beautiful! I am so happy for them:D Their wedding is really simple and basic but surprisingly interesting! I love their photoshoot! I love the set of vintage ones the most. Her tailored Qi Pao is so beautiful that I just couldn't get it off my mind when she showed me the photos and I bought a similar piece off some online store. Of course it's not as pretty as hers and I doubt I'll even wear it. Haha. I thought I will get really bored during their wedding dinner but I weren't. The service of Marina Mandarin is unacceptable but other than that, everything is good. Their videos are so interesting.  Their ichiro video is just wow! Alvin was quite impressed by that too. Brendan was longboarding in it so I asked what Alvin wants to show people if we make that for our wedding then he said travelling??? I rather he film his wakeboarding adventures. Haha. I mean how is the videographer gonna film his travelling adventures?

I don't know if it's because I haven't attended any wedding dinner since I was Primary 4 or I get more emotional when I grow up. I was so touched on many occasions during the solemnisation ceremony and during the dinner itself. I drew many similarities to Tiffany's family. My family is quite like hers. Her wedding speech is my ideal wedding speech. Since I can't have a garden wedding or get married overseas, I'll want my wedding to be as simple, and yet beautiful, like hers too :)

Pictures under cut ^^

An afternoon at Symmetry

Woohooo. Finally get to go out with the ever busy boyfriend and tried Symmetry for the first time :)

It's quite a distance away from Bugis MRT station but it's rather easy to walk there from the station. Just that the scorching hot sun is making us really frustrated>:( I was quite surprised to see that the cafe is full! I knew about this cafe cos of the cute latte art that my friend posted on Instagram when they went there..We didn't get cute latte art cos the boyfriend ordered the ice latte and I ordered Long Black. Only remembered that we meant to go there for the latte art now. What a joke. The blazing hot sun was really getting onto our nerves.

Pesto! The menu is pretty limited and I don't quite get what they were writing. Haha. But this dish turns out to be really great but I hope they add more of the pasta though. Usually pasta with pesto sauce are far too creamy. This is quite an exception. They have more of the basil than cream *Thumbs up*

Green Tea Sandwich for dessert. We wanted to order the Mango Sandwich but they ran out of the ingredients. It's actually green tea mousse with shortbread. It's sooo yummy. Not overly sweet and it's rather refreshing :)

We don't have much expectations on the food at brunch/ coffee places. I mean.. people usually go there for coffee and food is secondary. BUT... the dishes here really exceed our expectation:) Just wish that the serving can be a tad bigger. Ask if we will come back here again? Probably not. For the same price, we'll go to Au Chocolat instead. Hehs.

My recess week is coming to an end. As usual, I get really depressed during recess week as the boyfriend didn't plan a special day of fun for me. It's extremely upsetting for me especially when I have zero mid terms after this recess week and it's the last week of fun before the crazy mugging plus mad rush to meet project deadlines from Week 9 onwards. To me it's like 'wow the whole world seems to be going out to have fun with their other half or friends except me':( And it definitely seems like being single is more fun since my days were always filled with activities, may it be studying together or to go out or to club and whatever. Now I am just miserable being alone most of the time. Hmms. I am really glad to have Huihui to accompany me to try out new food places or to go to our favourite Amoy for lunch. Shall update the entire week with more food pictures tomorrow ;)

Birthday post!

I wanted to cut my hair like this so that it is easier to style but the boyfriend say it doesn't suit me:( My hair is so boring now.

*WAVESWAVESWAVES* The frantic midterms and project submission is over for this half a semester and there's no midterms after recess week so I am sooooo elated. After hearing how SMA prof actually encourage us to go away during the long weekend before cramming to catch up on our books, I really wish to go for a short weekend trip or staycation. Sighs.

This post is gonna be really long and so...

Good food with the close ones

This morning is a whole bunch of drama events. Sighs. I guess the only thing I hate about my Note II is the alarm clock):

Last week was gone in a flash. Time seems to pass faster when school starts and I get sleepy really early too): But! I did spend a good week yesterday with lots of good food and good company :)

1) EAST OCEAN TEOCHEW RESTAURANT @Ngee Ann City

Huihui!

I haven't brought my camera out for a long time. I stopped taking photos so often after I bought my DSLR cos it's so bulky. How can I fit it into my bags since I am carrying smaller and smaller bags nowadays??? && It's too exaggerating to use it to take food photos and stuff. Hmm. Brought the bf's GF2 out last week ;)

Haven't had Huihui's face appear on my blog for a long time. We love love East Ocean dim sum! It's really my top favourite place to go for dim sum. Reasonably priced and rather good service :) We ordered our 'usual', which is the custard bun, siew mai, hah gao, chee chong fun with barbecued pork,... Decided to try one of their cute dim sum but it's kinda disappointing. Their custard bun is the best I have ever eaten. As compared to Crystal Jade, Jade @ The Fullerton and the Shangri-la dim sum. Yums.

2) Standing Sushi Bar @SAM

Finally get to meet Gen for lunch now that I am back to school! We decided to try Standing Sushi Bar since everyone around me in SMU seems to be raving about it. It's so near our school, we just had to try it!

When we go in, we were kinda taken aback since it's not a literal 'Standing Sushi Bar'. There were bar top seats but no sumptuous sushi on a conveyor belt. Everything was ala carte or in sets. We had a hard time trying to figure out what's in a particular dish since some of the dishes doesn't have a picture on the menu. At first glance, the food seems pretty pricey too but they had pretty good deals on different days of the week which you can find out more about it here. I ordered a soba (I have been craving for for weeks but didn't get to eat it.) and a Dragon Roll (one of their specialties sushi) to share and Gen ordered a sashimi salad.

The Dragon Roll is sooooo yummy! I prefer this to Shiok Maki anytime! At first glance I am meh... It must be the same as the Koh Grill & Sushi Bar's but I was so wrong! Dragon Roll is a sushi with unagi wrap on the outside and shrimp tempura in the inside, which is quite the same ingredient as the Shiok Maki v1 but it's so much better without the cheese and the humongous amount of rice. Even though it's 8 pieces per plate, it kept me wanting for more. Can't wait to go back again on days with 50% off sashimi!

I love catching up with Gen like this once in a while. We have been in the same school since secondary school (SAJC after that and now SMU) but we didn't really talk to each other much due to the different routes we take. I am just so happy to see her beaming with bliss everyday. Haha. I never fail to repeat this but this is really the happiest her I have ever seen since I know her. I feel happy just looking at her (:

3) Founder's BKT @Balestier

It was mummy's birthday on the 9 of Mar so we decided to take her out for dinner! She haven't tried Founder's BKT, so did my sibs, so boyfriend and I brought them there for dinner. My mum don't want us to spend too much money on her birthday too. It was quite a disappointment though. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I am there and I was really looking forward to it but... The pork ribs were soooo hard (certain parts SO FAT) and difficult to eat and the soup didn't taste that good anymore. Not going to go back there anymore. I felt so bad to bring my mum to eat something that's so not up to standard on her birthday):

4) Jade @ The Fullerton

Our church service ended really early so we went to walk around One Fullerton while waiting for le BFFs to arrive.

We randomly found Catalunya Restaurant while we were walking around and I just had to #ootd with it!
Didn't expect Catalunya to be in a standalone capsule! So cute! Can't wait to try it someday.

Chilling at Starbucks since I have rebates on my Citibank card to clear. Hehe.

Finally at Jade!

With the Bffs~~ So much love.

Just realised that we were very matchy that day. Hehe. And Yuankai towers over Qi and Ting with his new Dr. Martens.

You must be wondering why is there no photos of food. We booked the first sitting which is 1115 to 1230 and the last order is 1215. Ridiculous isn't it? It's quite crazy since it's a dim sum buffet. Dim sum is super filling and usually people will want to slowly enjoy their food during a buffet. We had to order a whole lot at one go cos they need to prepare the food and we only had one hour to order. The food gets cold really fast and dim sum is a little oily at times and when it turns cold it's even worst. We can't really chat with each other and slowly enjoy the food. I didn't really like this. Overall it was quite worth it in that it's $42 nett each and they are very generous with the ingredients and overall it's still good (but I prefer East Ocean). There were abalone on the siew mai, there were bird nest soup, scallop and lobster porridge. I love the soup and egg noodle though:)

Back to school!

Hello guys! Sorry for the long hiatus! I was kinda taking a long break from blogging, twitter and my online store. It just get kinda tiring after some time. Now all I do with my Macbook is to online shop and read blogs (Oh. This reminds me of the horror when I open my closet this morning. It's bursting with clothes. Literally bursting. And all are new clothes. Mostly unworn-.- && I still worry about what to wear everyday.) ?  School has started but it seems to be really hard to get myself back again. 3 more semester of anxiety and hell before graduation. No more internships for me and also no more accounting modules after this semester. So life's gonna get better in year 4. Hopefully our overseas exchange application get through and it'll really be honeymooney year 4. Can't wait for that!

As you know, I started a blogshop. Haha. Sounds like a joke but I did. We just had our first outdoor shoot. && now I really prefer indoor shoot>outdoor. Haha. The hot sun, the pain of finding a toilet. Grh. But the photos turn out to be really vibrant and nice without any edits. Yay. In case you don't know, we have recently shifted to our own domain! Show some support!:DD WWW.SHENNASHANNON.COM

School has started with the best timetable I can ever have - 3 hours of lesson, 4 days a week. I can have the whole afternoon to myself resting then prepare for lesson tomorrow! It's only the second week so far and I am feeling too chill. It's week 9 for the rest of the SMU peep and the atmosphere in school seems pretty tense but I am like not in that mood. It feel really weird. Samuel said that modified term is really long and draggy. Hopefully I won't feel that way. Most of my closer friends in SMU are doing modified term or are overseas having exchange. So even if my exams end only in June, I won't feel too sad? The boyfriend is going on his 42 days Europe grad trip too. He will be away when I am having my exams, which is really good cos I can have the whole quiet room to myself doing my revision. Unlike last sem-___- He was super distracting last sem cos all he did was to watch videos and laugh during finals.

Alvin was really busy for the past few weeks so we didn't get to go out. Everyday I am just browsing Facebook and Instagram swooning over the sweet dating photos of my friends. Sad life. BUT! It's the boyfriend's recess week now! So hopefully we can have some fun this week^^

Me in my first maxi skirt (or at least the first that I actually wear it out).

We went to Nook's last Saturday. One of the rare days that the boyfriend wants to drive out to explore new places. The portion was too much for us. For girls, I'll think the portion is enough for 4. For guys probably 3? The price for one set of the DIY pancakes with 2 flavours is $28 before GST and service charge which is a little steep for 2 people I feel. For 4, it'll be just nice. It's really fun but half way through it became a little too overwhelming and sweet. So glad that we ordered additional sautéed mushrooms, if not I'll put down my fork even earlier. The batter is really nice though!

Watched Lincoln after that. The movie is surprisingly good. It lasted 2.5 hrs but it's not draggy. For someone like me who knows almost nothing about American history, it's easy enough to understand. It gave me an overview of the civil war and the issue of slavery. Many parts of the movie reminds me of the situation Singapore is in now. People in the US were afraid of what will comes if slavery were to be abolished and all the slaves were given the same right as them. They don't know what will happen if that happens and all humans are afraid of the unknown. This is largely similar to how we are afraid of the effects of the white paper. We are afraid that the foreigners will take our jobs, that they will be given the same right as us, that their culture and ours clashes, ... Ah well. All in all it's one of the nicest movies I have watched recently.

Yesterday we went to take the famous Shiok Maki from Koh Grill & Sushi Bar which is made famous lately by Ladyironchef's review. We had to try it after seeing so many people posting the photos of the sushi on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! However, we were pretty disappointed by the extremely bad service by the waitresses. Initially, we were asked to go to this table with 4 seats when there were only 2 of us. Then, when we were about to seat down, one waitress (her name is Wendy by the way) shouted at us and say that 2 people cannot sit at a table meant for 4 people and rudely pointed us to another table and walk away. She's super rude! They did not provide us with the dining set and plates too and we had to take from another table ourselves. We tried the Shiok Maki, the soft shell crab sushi and the fried udon. The food is really nice but the portion is too large. How can they serve the sushi in eights?! I rather they serve in twos so we can try a larger variety. I'll prefer Itacho to this for the portion. Diminishing utility with each additional sushi consumed. At least for me. Haha. I think I'll only come back here if I am with a bigger group of friends. Oh, and when we were about to leave, there were no cashier at the counter. It's like we can just walk out anytime we want. We wanted sooooo long for the waitress to SEE that we are waiting by the cashier to make our payment. I waved like a mad woman trying to get their attention-_____-

This year's Valentine's Day was a simple affair. I was sick so we didn't really celebrate much on the actual day. No fancy dinner and stuff but it's good enough:) This is our 3rd Valentine's Day together. Last year he was away for exchange but at least he set me a bouquet of roses and we had a really long Facetime chat. Hehe.

He bought Pandora for me on the day after Valentine's Day. Can't wait to fill it up with a special charm with every city I travelled to in Europe. *Fingers cross* So far the only major city I have been to is London.

CNY 2013 is slightly better this year cos the boyfriend is back! Hehe. && baby Ethan is always cute and smart.

Family ootd.
I am like the shortest in the family now. I know we had to walk quite a bit so I didn't wear heels. My sis ' and my height are just 0.5-1cm apart (she's shorter btw) and she wore heels. Even when she don't her body shape just makes her look taller than me T.T

First day ootd.

Second day ootd. Dress from Shenna Shannon

We ended our CNY last week with the legendary Yu Sheng once again! Bf's uncle makes the best and most beautiful yusheng. && He's not a chef!

Just something random. I kinda miss working.
