22

This week has been a really busy and fulfilling week!

Monday!

Bloc Party with Alvin, Brendan, Tiffany and friends :) I have never heard of them before Alvin mentioned to me that he bought the tickets to their concert. But Alvin will never buy tickets to a concert that he isn't sure if it is good; so that must be really good! Overall they play really good music! And the lead singer is sooooo clear and nice! I love UK accent but it can be quite hard to catch what they are singing if there's is raps and all. Haha. So far I haven't load their songs on my Note II or iPad since the boyfriend say that we have to enjoy and remember the good live music while it lasts. Playing it from a music player can never sound as good as it is live!

While waiting for Brenden:

I really look super tired without makeup on a school night :/

It was the first concert that I attended at Fort Canning. It was quite a good experience given that the crowd is not as big as crazy as SHM or what. They are all diehard fans (mostly 24 years old and above). The only thing I hate about this outdoor concert is that everyone was just smoking as and when they like. It's impossible to not take in all those secondhand smoke:(

Wednesday!

Huihui and I went to try Arcade fish soup! I have been wanting to try that since everyone was raving about it during internship times and I tried 3 times queueing for it and failed cos the queue is crazy and there were no seats at all! >:| BUT. I was soooo utterly disappointed. The only thing special about the fish soup is the Si Chuan veg and ginger that they include in the soup; WHICH I HATED! And the environment is a total turn off when we are carrying our bags and heavy laptops. It's so stuffy too. If the food is really that good I probably won't complain about the environment but this is really super disappointing :( Can't wait for our Good Hawker Food day again next week. Hope Har Kee (not sure how to spell) Amoy fish soup will be much better! ^^ Anw, I felt quite happy to meet some familiar places around the CBD area though I look super tired.

Thursday!

Tried one of the restaurants featured during the Restaurant Week this year for the first time thanks to the boyfriend's parents. The boyfriend's mum made a reservation with Michealangelo's due to the Amex offer and probably their early wedding anniversary celebration. Left the house in a rush cos the boyfriend's lesson ended so much earlier and my whole makeup plan failed. Ended up creating a mess on the table and bed all strewed with my eyeshadow palette and stuff but failed to experiment with anything:( Hate it when I plan to do something and the timing screws up. Sighs. But never mind, it's not as though I am doing anything special after that. No one is going to see me. Just had some light makeup on and vroom~~

The boyfriend busy Instagram-ing and hashtagging his yummy plate of calamari appetiser:

Heard that they are famous for the pork ribs and the boyfriend decided to try this:

I ordered this 48 hour stewed beef. Really light and perfect for dinner for me! ^^ Don't like heavy dinners. This cost $44 or $64 ala carte if without Restaurant Week's promotion. It is super yummy and really unique but I won't get this on a normal day. Haha. Go for the pork ribs!

Boyfriend ordered Creme Brulee as dessert.

Tiramisu for me! This is really good! Probably the best tiramisu I had! It's not too cheesy and the cream isn't that thick. Just nice I feel! Love the coffee powder :)

Overall, the dinner is really good. I am now more open to food choices. Just hope that I won't gain back those weight I 'accidentally' lost during internship and the bad flu. It's quite nice to be hovering around the underweight BMI again and to be able to wear crop tops without feeling disgusting and fat (just that I don't have abs cos I don't exercise). BUT, I have to admit that I am really need some muscles. I am finally thin but flabby. That's still not ideal:/

It's coming to the end of March and that screams my 22nd birthday that is coming very soon.

I have been wanting to blog about what I want for my birthday since Monday but I was too busy to do so. && my lovely friends have asked me what I want. But I still just want to put them down. Haha. It's gonna be a simple affair again this year! I will be celebrating with the boyfriend on 2nd April hopefully, together with our 2nd anniversary (don't know why I feel like we are together for a super long time already but it's only coming to 2 years?). && 3rd or 4th April with my BFFs:DD

1) Chanel Silver Swarovski Crystal Earrings

Not a labels kind of girl but a classic pair of Chanel earrings can last me a long time and it goes well with everything! Just like the pearl earrings boyfriend's mum bought me for my 21st birthday. It has been my interview lucky earrings ever since. Vintage Chanel earrings are more yummy but too way out of our reach. So I thought it will be quite nice to have that, especially when I will be going out to the workforce soon. Well, in another year's time.

2) Jeffery Campbell Shoes

I wish I can own one of them. But it's quite impractical since I always aim to dress comfortably to go to school and I don't really go out anymore. Passed the dating stage, kinda far from friends at the moment and not much plans during weekends:( But it's still a good-to-have. I will totally start collecting them when I start working ;)

3) Pandora Charms

I have been looking for this Big Ben charm for a long time! It was said to be out of stock at all stores in Singapore. I am not sure if it is available now but it's definitely one I will add to my Pandora collection. Each charm has to symbolise something for my bracelet! I couldn't get this anywhere and hence I chose the Enamel London Bus to replace this for my fond memories in UK :)

4) Sephora vouchers

I love love love Sephora. Sephora vouchers will come in handy for me anytime :)

Tada. That's the end of my top birthday wish list which can never be fulfilled entirely :) But I am someone who is super easy to buy present for. As long as you are someone who knows my style and personality, it'll not be a problem. I am a blogshopaholic, I love items that are feminine and yet stylish and cool, I love handicrafts, I love books,... Eh... I am really easy with presents :)

Good food with the close ones

This morning is a whole bunch of drama events. Sighs. I guess the only thing I hate about my Note II is the alarm clock):

Last week was gone in a flash. Time seems to pass faster when school starts and I get sleepy really early too): But! I did spend a good week yesterday with lots of good food and good company :)

1) EAST OCEAN TEOCHEW RESTAURANT @Ngee Ann City

Huihui!

I haven't brought my camera out for a long time. I stopped taking photos so often after I bought my DSLR cos it's so bulky. How can I fit it into my bags since I am carrying smaller and smaller bags nowadays??? && It's too exaggerating to use it to take food photos and stuff. Hmm. Brought the bf's GF2 out last week ;)

Haven't had Huihui's face appear on my blog for a long time. We love love East Ocean dim sum! It's really my top favourite place to go for dim sum. Reasonably priced and rather good service :) We ordered our 'usual', which is the custard bun, siew mai, hah gao, chee chong fun with barbecued pork,... Decided to try one of their cute dim sum but it's kinda disappointing. Their custard bun is the best I have ever eaten. As compared to Crystal Jade, Jade @ The Fullerton and the Shangri-la dim sum. Yums.

2) Standing Sushi Bar @SAM

Finally get to meet Gen for lunch now that I am back to school! We decided to try Standing Sushi Bar since everyone around me in SMU seems to be raving about it. It's so near our school, we just had to try it!

When we go in, we were kinda taken aback since it's not a literal 'Standing Sushi Bar'. There were bar top seats but no sumptuous sushi on a conveyor belt. Everything was ala carte or in sets. We had a hard time trying to figure out what's in a particular dish since some of the dishes doesn't have a picture on the menu. At first glance, the food seems pretty pricey too but they had pretty good deals on different days of the week which you can find out more about it here. I ordered a soba (I have been craving for for weeks but didn't get to eat it.) and a Dragon Roll (one of their specialties sushi) to share and Gen ordered a sashimi salad.

The Dragon Roll is sooooo yummy! I prefer this to Shiok Maki anytime! At first glance I am meh... It must be the same as the Koh Grill & Sushi Bar's but I was so wrong! Dragon Roll is a sushi with unagi wrap on the outside and shrimp tempura in the inside, which is quite the same ingredient as the Shiok Maki v1 but it's so much better without the cheese and the humongous amount of rice. Even though it's 8 pieces per plate, it kept me wanting for more. Can't wait to go back again on days with 50% off sashimi!

I love catching up with Gen like this once in a while. We have been in the same school since secondary school (SAJC after that and now SMU) but we didn't really talk to each other much due to the different routes we take. I am just so happy to see her beaming with bliss everyday. Haha. I never fail to repeat this but this is really the happiest her I have ever seen since I know her. I feel happy just looking at her (:

3) Founder's BKT @Balestier

It was mummy's birthday on the 9 of Mar so we decided to take her out for dinner! She haven't tried Founder's BKT, so did my sibs, so boyfriend and I brought them there for dinner. My mum don't want us to spend too much money on her birthday too. It was quite a disappointment though. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I am there and I was really looking forward to it but... The pork ribs were soooo hard (certain parts SO FAT) and difficult to eat and the soup didn't taste that good anymore. Not going to go back there anymore. I felt so bad to bring my mum to eat something that's so not up to standard on her birthday):

4) Jade @ The Fullerton

Our church service ended really early so we went to walk around One Fullerton while waiting for le BFFs to arrive.

We randomly found Catalunya Restaurant while we were walking around and I just had to #ootd with it!
Didn't expect Catalunya to be in a standalone capsule! So cute! Can't wait to try it someday.

Chilling at Starbucks since I have rebates on my Citibank card to clear. Hehe.

Finally at Jade!

With the Bffs~~ So much love.

Just realised that we were very matchy that day. Hehe. And Yuankai towers over Qi and Ting with his new Dr. Martens.

You must be wondering why is there no photos of food. We booked the first sitting which is 1115 to 1230 and the last order is 1215. Ridiculous isn't it? It's quite crazy since it's a dim sum buffet. Dim sum is super filling and usually people will want to slowly enjoy their food during a buffet. We had to order a whole lot at one go cos they need to prepare the food and we only had one hour to order. The food gets cold really fast and dim sum is a little oily at times and when it turns cold it's even worst. We can't really chat with each other and slowly enjoy the food. I didn't really like this. Overall it was quite worth it in that it's $42 nett each and they are very generous with the ingredients and overall it's still good (but I prefer East Ocean). There were abalone on the siew mai, there were bird nest soup, scallop and lobster porridge. I love the soup and egg noodle though:)

Back to school!

Hello guys! Sorry for the long hiatus! I was kinda taking a long break from blogging, twitter and my online store. It just get kinda tiring after some time. Now all I do with my Macbook is to online shop and read blogs (Oh. This reminds me of the horror when I open my closet this morning. It's bursting with clothes. Literally bursting. And all are new clothes. Mostly unworn-.- && I still worry about what to wear everyday.) ?  School has started but it seems to be really hard to get myself back again. 3 more semester of anxiety and hell before graduation. No more internships for me and also no more accounting modules after this semester. So life's gonna get better in year 4. Hopefully our overseas exchange application get through and it'll really be honeymooney year 4. Can't wait for that!

As you know, I started a blogshop. Haha. Sounds like a joke but I did. We just had our first outdoor shoot. && now I really prefer indoor shoot>outdoor. Haha. The hot sun, the pain of finding a toilet. Grh. But the photos turn out to be really vibrant and nice without any edits. Yay. In case you don't know, we have recently shifted to our own domain! Show some support!:DD WWW.SHENNASHANNON.COM

School has started with the best timetable I can ever have - 3 hours of lesson, 4 days a week. I can have the whole afternoon to myself resting then prepare for lesson tomorrow! It's only the second week so far and I am feeling too chill. It's week 9 for the rest of the SMU peep and the atmosphere in school seems pretty tense but I am like not in that mood. It feel really weird. Samuel said that modified term is really long and draggy. Hopefully I won't feel that way. Most of my closer friends in SMU are doing modified term or are overseas having exchange. So even if my exams end only in June, I won't feel too sad? The boyfriend is going on his 42 days Europe grad trip too. He will be away when I am having my exams, which is really good cos I can have the whole quiet room to myself doing my revision. Unlike last sem-___- He was super distracting last sem cos all he did was to watch videos and laugh during finals.

Alvin was really busy for the past few weeks so we didn't get to go out. Everyday I am just browsing Facebook and Instagram swooning over the sweet dating photos of my friends. Sad life. BUT! It's the boyfriend's recess week now! So hopefully we can have some fun this week^^

Me in my first maxi skirt (or at least the first that I actually wear it out).

We went to Nook's last Saturday. One of the rare days that the boyfriend wants to drive out to explore new places. The portion was too much for us. For girls, I'll think the portion is enough for 4. For guys probably 3? The price for one set of the DIY pancakes with 2 flavours is $28 before GST and service charge which is a little steep for 2 people I feel. For 4, it'll be just nice. It's really fun but half way through it became a little too overwhelming and sweet. So glad that we ordered additional sautéed mushrooms, if not I'll put down my fork even earlier. The batter is really nice though!

Watched Lincoln after that. The movie is surprisingly good. It lasted 2.5 hrs but it's not draggy. For someone like me who knows almost nothing about American history, it's easy enough to understand. It gave me an overview of the civil war and the issue of slavery. Many parts of the movie reminds me of the situation Singapore is in now. People in the US were afraid of what will comes if slavery were to be abolished and all the slaves were given the same right as them. They don't know what will happen if that happens and all humans are afraid of the unknown. This is largely similar to how we are afraid of the effects of the white paper. We are afraid that the foreigners will take our jobs, that they will be given the same right as us, that their culture and ours clashes, ... Ah well. All in all it's one of the nicest movies I have watched recently.

Yesterday we went to take the famous Shiok Maki from Koh Grill & Sushi Bar which is made famous lately by Ladyironchef's review. We had to try it after seeing so many people posting the photos of the sushi on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! However, we were pretty disappointed by the extremely bad service by the waitresses. Initially, we were asked to go to this table with 4 seats when there were only 2 of us. Then, when we were about to seat down, one waitress (her name is Wendy by the way) shouted at us and say that 2 people cannot sit at a table meant for 4 people and rudely pointed us to another table and walk away. She's super rude! They did not provide us with the dining set and plates too and we had to take from another table ourselves. We tried the Shiok Maki, the soft shell crab sushi and the fried udon. The food is really nice but the portion is too large. How can they serve the sushi in eights?! I rather they serve in twos so we can try a larger variety. I'll prefer Itacho to this for the portion. Diminishing utility with each additional sushi consumed. At least for me. Haha. I think I'll only come back here if I am with a bigger group of friends. Oh, and when we were about to leave, there were no cashier at the counter. It's like we can just walk out anytime we want. We wanted sooooo long for the waitress to SEE that we are waiting by the cashier to make our payment. I waved like a mad woman trying to get their attention-_____-

This year's Valentine's Day was a simple affair. I was sick so we didn't really celebrate much on the actual day. No fancy dinner and stuff but it's good enough:) This is our 3rd Valentine's Day together. Last year he was away for exchange but at least he set me a bouquet of roses and we had a really long Facetime chat. Hehe.

He bought Pandora for me on the day after Valentine's Day. Can't wait to fill it up with a special charm with every city I travelled to in Europe. *Fingers cross* So far the only major city I have been to is London.

CNY 2013 is slightly better this year cos the boyfriend is back! Hehe. && baby Ethan is always cute and smart.

Family ootd.
I am like the shortest in the family now. I know we had to walk quite a bit so I didn't wear heels. My sis ' and my height are just 0.5-1cm apart (she's shorter btw) and she wore heels. Even when she don't her body shape just makes her look taller than me T.T

First day ootd.

Second day ootd. Dress from Shenna Shannon

We ended our CNY last week with the legendary Yu Sheng once again! Bf's uncle makes the best and most beautiful yusheng. && He's not a chef!

Just something random. I kinda miss working.

Group Therapy Cafe

Finally we visited the Group Therapy Cafe!

It is situated at 49 Duxton Road, just above an Italian restaurant. As we climbed up the stairs, we are greeted with this!

Just look at the handle to the door! Haha! The scoop used to scoop coffee beans!

We were so shocked when we open the door! It was so crowded. The whole of Duxton Road was so quiet and the cafes nearby are pretty much empty but here is so different! We were placed on a waiting list and had to wait about more than half an hour to get a seat:/

We had to share the table with another 2 girls. The cafe gives off a very homely feel...

There were paintings on sale too.

We ordered 2 of their specialty drinks:

Toasted Hazelnut Latte

Caramel Cappucino. It pretty much tasted like Starbucks' Caramel Latte

The DJ boyfriend who constantly hunts for new tracks but never really use some time to do any mix ever since he came back??? TSK.

I don't know why there's a hole in his hair???

Group Therapy. HEHE.

Online has been raving about how good Group Therapy's poached eggs are but I wasn't too much of a fan.

Boyfriend ordered the Baked Chili Crab Pie.

&& I ordered the Shepherd's Pie.

Just look at the chill crab! Yums.

The Shepherd's Pie is nice but too much potato:( The boyfriend had to finished it for me in the end. overall the food and ambience is great but they really need to reorganised their seating arrangement? Some people are not too fond of sharing table/space, especially when they are looking to chill in Indie Cafes....

Western food served in traditional chinese plates.

Okay, till then!
